Between January 13 and February 14, 2025, the first workshop of the Rock and Water program outside Lima was held for children between 10 and 12 years of age in the district of Chontabamba, in the province of Oxapampa. This initiative was developed within the framework of the useful vacation activities promoted by the District Municipality.<\/p>\n\n

The workshop was a success, with 14 children completing all the sessions and receiving their diplomas at the closing ceremony of the vacation. During this event, held in the town of Chontabamba, the children had the opportunity to demonstrate what they had learned in all their workshops.<\/p>\n\n

Although originally the program called \u201cStrong as a Rock, flexible as Water: Rock and Water preventing bullying, violence and strengthening the socioemotional development of the individual\u201d was designed to support students in the transition from primary to secondary school, its implementation in Chontabamba led to a restructuring of the objectives, adapting it to the social, cultural, educational and family particularities of the district. Thanks to this adaptation, the program was able to address more comprehensively the emotional and social needs of the participants.<\/p>\n\n

The main objective was to contribute to the reduction of problems both at the intrapersonal level, such as the strengthening of autonomy and psychological well-being, and at the interpersonal level, through the prevention of aggression and bullying, from an educational and preventive approach.<\/p>\n\n

What is the Rock and Water program?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Rock and Water is a psychophysical program<\/a> of Dutch origin, created more than twenty years ago by Freerk Ykema, with the objective of strengthening social and emotional competencies in children and adolescents. Its innovative methodology combines physical exercises with spaces for reflection, promoting emotional self-regulation, resilience, mutual respect and conscious decision making.<\/p>\n\n

With proven results in primary and secondary educational contexts, the program has been successfully implemented in several countries. Its approach seeks to prevent violent behavior and foster an emotionally safe and socially healthy environment for participants.<\/p>\n\n

The experience in Chontabamba<\/a> represents an important precedent for future editions of the program in the region, and demonstrates the commitment of the authorities to the emotional well-being and integral development of their children.<\/p>\n\n
