“Pannenkoekdag” in Lima, a Dutch tradition

On March 22nd, NTC El Tulipán experienced a very special day with the realization of its first Cultural DayPannenkoekdag, an activity designed to promote Dutch culture in a playful and participatory way.

The event, called “Pannenkoekdag” (Pancake Day), transformed El Tulipán into a pancake restaurant, where the protagonists were students of Dutch between the ages of 4 and 16.

During this day, the children not only demonstrated their language skills, but also their enthusiasm and hospitality, serving the guests with delicious pancakes prepared especially for the occasion. This activity allowed them to practice the language in a real context, while sharing a typical tradition of the Netherlands.

With “Pannenkoekdag”, El Tulipán reaffirms its commitment to the teaching of Dutch and the dissemination of its culture, generating meaningful experiences for its students and their families.

What is Pannenkoekdag?
Pannenkoekdag, or Pancake Day, is a traditional Dutch celebration held annually, usually in March. During this day, elementary students prepare and serve pancakes to elderly people in schools or residences, as a gesture of affection and gratitude. The tradition seeks to strengthen intergenerational ties and at the same time enjoy one of the most beloved dishes of Dutch cuisine: pancakes (pannenkoeken), which can be served with sweet or savory ingredients. It is an occasion full of joy, cooperation and community, combining culture, gastronomy and human values.
