What is DELE?

DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language) are official titles certifying degree of competence and mastery of the Spanish language in non-native speakers. To obtain this certification it is necessary to pass an exam.

There is a specific exam and diploma for each level of language proficiency.


DELE A1 | Basic user.

DELE A2 | Basic+ user.

DELE B1 | Independent user.

DELE B2 | Independent+ user.

DELE C1 | Proficient user.

DELE C2 | Proficient user – Mastery of the language.

DELE exams are administered at Instituto Cervantes centers and in its network of more than 1,000 examination centers in more than 100 countries. You can view the dates and official exam centers in your country on the official website of the Cervantes Institute.

DELE diplomas are internationally recognized, and enjoy great prestige in public and private educational institutions and authorities worldwide. They are an official proof of the evaluation and certification of linguistic competence in Spanish.
