Terms and Conditions for Dutch Classes

The El Tulipán Cultural Association (hereinafter “EL TULIPÁN”) is committed to providing clear and accurate information about the terms and conditions of the A2 Dutch Course (Pre-Intermediate I, II, and III) to both enrolled students and prospective students.

  1. The course is offered entirely online in a synchronous format via Zoom.
  2. The total duration of the course is approximately 12 months, divided into three 4-month periods: Pre-Intermediate I, II, and III. There are eight (8) sessions per month, for a total of 96 sessions.
  3. In some circumstances, the course may last 1 to 2 months longer due to factors such as: groups with low language proficiency, repetition of topics due to lack of understanding, classes canceled due to lack of participation, and/or factors that interfere with the proper progression of the material. In such cases, participants will be notified in advance.
  4. Classes are held twice a week, with each session lasting 2 hours.
  5. The course maintains the same frequency and schedule established from the beginning, continuing uninterrupted throughout the course.
  6. In the event that a group class has only one participant, the duration will be adjusted to 1.5 hours.
  7. Each class session lasts 55 minutes, followed by a break of approximately 5 minutes.
  8. The course is taught in a group format. The minimum number of participants per group is 2, and the maximum is 10.
  9. Active student participation is required. It is essential to have good audio quality and to participate in the exercises during class.
  10. A 15-minute grace period is allowed for joining the class. After this time, access will not be permitted.
  11. In the event of extended absences, please notify us by email at coordinacionacademica@eltulipanperu.com. These notifications are for informational purposes only and do not entitle you to make up missed classes at a later date. Missed sessions cannot be made up.
  12. You may not freeze sessions or postpone the start or continuation of classes once registration has been processed.
  13. Upon successful completion of the Dutch A2 course and passing the final exam with a minimum score of 11, a certificate of participation will be awarded.
  14. El Tulipán reserves the right to deny admission to classes if a participant is unable to participate in group classes in accordance with the terms and conditions and in harmony with the other participants.
  1. There are two ways to pay for the course:
    • Total payment with discount: 1,565 soles per pre-intermediate level.
    • (The course consists of 3 pre-intermediate levels, each lasting approximately 4 months.)
    • Monthly payments of 425 soles (for each month of study over approximately 12 months). If the course is extended beyond this period, the cost per month of study will remain the same.
  2. Participants who choose to pay monthly must make their payment by the deadline that El Tulipán will communicate via email or other designated channels.
  3. Participants can choose from three available payment methods. Click here for more details.
  4. Participants who make monthly payments must send proof of payment, a voucher, or a screenshot of the payment to coordinacionacademica@eltulipanperu.com, following the instructions provided in the monthly payment email, in order to confirm their registration for the following month of study.
  5. Missed classes cannot be made up or refunded.
  6. No refunds will be issued under any circumstances.
  7. El Tulipán, in order to ensure the smooth operation of the course, may make changes to groups and/or schedules for participants who have paid in full in the following cases:
    • If, at any point during the course, a group has two participants and one of them does not attend 90% of the sessions, we will offer the option to switch to the group that is closest to starting or provide an alternative so that the student can continue learning the language.
    • If, at any point during the course, a group has two participants and one of them indicates that they will not continue with the classes, we will offer the option to switch to the next available group or provide an alternative arrangement to ensure their continued language learning.
    • If, during any given study period, a group has two participants who did not attend 90% of the sessions and, as a result of their absence, did not complete the month’s topics, they will be advised to join another group to make up the missed topics. This will incur an additional cost for the sessions required to continue into the next period.
  8. El Tulipán, in order to ensure the smooth operation of the course, may make changes to groups and/or schedules for participants who have paid on a monthly basis in the following cases:
    • If, at any point during the course, a group has two participants and one of them does not attend 90% of the sessions, we will offer the option to switch to the group that is closest to starting or provide an alternative so that the student can continue learning the language.
    • If, at any point during the course, a group has two participants and one of them indicates that they will not continue with the classes, we will offer the option to switch to the next available group or provide an alternative arrangement to ensure their continued language learning.
    • If, during any given study period, a group has two participants who did not attend 100% of the sessions—and therefore did not complete the month’s topics—we will recommend that they join another group to make up the missed topics. This will incur an additional cost for the remaining sessions.
  1. Participants are responsible for purchasing the course materials.
  2. The course uses the Contact 2 method. Participants may purchase the course in physical or digital format. The physical version is available only to individuals located in the Netherlands or Belgium.
  3. Participants must ensure they have the materials before classes begin.
  4. El Tulipán is not responsible for delays or for coordinating the delivery of materials, whether physical or digital, by Intertaal.
  5. Participants must contact Intertaal customer service to request assistance with their purchase.
  1. Classes will be held via Zoom.
  2. Access to the classes is provided in the first email containing important information about the start of classes. Access is only provided via the email address the participant provided on their registration form.
  3. Participants must join classes using their full first and last names. The instructor may deny access to anyone who joins using nicknames, aliases, or names not registered in the group.
  4. Only one device per participant is allowed.
  5. Class access links are not sent via WhatsApp.
  6. It is recommended to take classes using a PC or laptop.
  • E.1. Progress assessment:
    1. El Tulipán will administer two online progress tests at the end of Chapters 5 and 10, with the instructor present. These assessments, referred to as Test 1 and Test 2, do not affect the final grade for the A2-level Dutch course.
    2. Each test will be graded and reviewed by the instructor during the next group session.
    3. It is recommended that you log in on time for the session to ensure you have enough time to complete the assessment.
  • E.2. Final exam:
    1. The grading scale is out of 20, ranging from 0 to 20 points. The minimum passing grade is 11.
    2. The final exam will take place during the last session of the course, approximately in the 12th or 13th month, after completing Chapter 15 of the textbook. This assessment will be conducted online during the two assigned class hours, and participants will be notified in a timely manner.
    3. The final exam grade is decisive for passing the course and obtaining the A2-level certificate in Dutch.
    4. It is mandatory to keep the camera on throughout the exam. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a 5-point deduction from the final grade.
    5. If the exam is not submitted before the end of the session, it will automatically be graded with 0 points.
    6. Participants who do not attend the final exam session will receive a score of 0. However, if they wish to complete the course, they may take the exam at a later date with another group, upon payment of the applicable exam fee.
    7. Likewise, those who receive a score of 10 may, upon prior arrangement, take a new exam with another group, upon payment of the applicable fee for a new evaluation.
    8. If there is no upcoming group to take the exam with, arrangements can be made to take it in a private class.
    9. The opportunity to retake the exam must be taken within one month of the end of the course.
    10. The final exam will be conducted entirely in Dutch, and no Spanish translation will be provided.
    11. Students who wish to review the grading of their final exam must do so in person at El Tulipán. Please make an appointment in advance.
  1. Recordings are not included in the course price; they are an additional review service. We cannot guarantee that all recordings will be available, as unforeseen circumstances may arise.
  2. Recordings will be available on Zoom for up to 48 hours.
  3. If all students are absent from a session, it will be considered a missed session and no recording will be provided.
  4. Recordings that include presentations or exams will not be shared.
  5. Class attendance is mandatory, as recordings do not substitute for participation in the sessions.
  6. The availability of all recordings is not guaranteed due to possible unforeseen circumstances beyond our control or the system’s control.
  7. It is the participant’s responsibility to watch the recording while it is available.
  8. Recordings will be sent exclusively to the email address provided by the participant on the registration form.
  9. Recordings will not be sent via WhatsApp or after the designated viewing period has ended.
  • G.1. Changes to groups and schedules:
    1. Participants may request a single group change during the course, solely for reasons related to a schedule change due to their place of residence, and only at the start of a new month of study. This option is available exclusively to students on a monthly payment plan.
    2. Participants who have taken advantage of special promotions, such as paying the full course fee in advance, and wish to change groups or schedules will automatically forfeit the benefits of that promotion. In such cases, a payment schedule corresponding to the regular payment plan will be applied for the remaining months.
    3. Participants enrolled under a special promotion may not change groups or schedules without assuming the additional costs involved.
    4. Only one change of group and schedule is permitted during the entire course period (12 months).
    5. Participants who request a change will have a maximum of 2 months to rejoin a new group from the point where they left off in the course. This rejoining is subject to group and schedule availability.
    6. El Tulipán is not responsible if a participant, after leaving a group with the intention of joining another, fails to do so by the recommended or established date. If the participant misses that date, the responsibility lies solely with the participant.
    7. El Tulipán cannot guarantee the availability of groups or time slots within a two-month period for those requesting a change. Factors such as full groups or cancellations due to low demand may affect the availability of options during that period.
  • G.2. Participants who drop out of the course:
    1. Participants who drop out of the course after completing one month of study (8 sessions) may resume classes up to 2 months later, subject to review of the group they can join.
    2. Participants who drop out of the course before completing one month of study and have not attended 8 sessions, or who are just starting the course during that period, must repeat the entire month they missed.
    3. After the 2-month period, they must resume the course from the beginning.
  • G.3. Participants who are unable to continue in the open group format:
    1. El Tulipán reserves the right to determine whether a participant may join or remain in an open group. If, following a performance evaluation, it is determined that the participant does not meet the standards, keep up with the pace of the sessions, or adhere to the required best practices, their transfer to another group may be recommended.
    2. El Tulipán will recommend that the participant continue their educational process in the private format (individual classes), which will allow for a more personalized approach tailored to their needs and learning pace. This measure aims to ensure that both the participant and the rest of the group can progress effectively, maintaining an environment conducive to collaborative learning.

The participant will be notified of the decision well in advance and with appropriate support, including an explanation of the reasons and suggestions for how to continue so that they can keep working toward their language learning goals.

  1. El Tulipán reserves the right to disband a group if participant attendance falls below 80% of the sessions.
  2. Participants who have attended more than 80% of the sessions will have the option to join an alternative group, details of which will be provided by El Tulipán.
  3. Groups with only 2 participants must meet a minimum attendance requirement of 90% of the sessions in order to take the placement test.
  1. El Tulipán may cancel or reschedule classes due to unforeseen circumstances such as technical issues, instructor absence, or any situation that affects the quality of the classes.
  2. In the event of a cancellation, the class will be rescheduled, and an email with the new dates will be sent.
  3. Cancellations by participants are not permitted in open groups.
  1. The dates and times of class sessions, exams, rescheduling, and other events are set according to the time zone of Lima, Peru.
  2. The schedule and dates remain as selected at the time of registration and are maintained throughout the course period.
  3. It is the participant’s responsibility to verify the class schedule and frequency correctly, as we do not make adjustments for time zone differences. For example, time differences of 6 to 7 hours that may occur in Europe will not be taken into account.
  4. Due to national holidays in Peru, the class schedule may be modified. Participants will be notified of these new dates in a timely manner at the beginning of each month of study or in the weeks prior to the change.
  5. In the event of holidays or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we will coordinate with participants to reschedule classes, which may be held on dates and at times different from the usual schedule.
  1. The certificate will be issued electronically and exclusively in Dutch. If you require a Spanish or English version, a translation fee of 25 soles will apply.
  2. The certificate will include the participant’s name, date and place of birth, the total number of course hours, and the grade obtained on the final exam.
  3. The information used to issue the certificate will be taken from the registration form. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that the information is correct at the time of registration.
  4. If any personal information on the certificate is incorrect, a fee of 15 soles must be paid to correct the error and issue a new certificate.
  5. If a student requires a certificate of Dutch language studies, this document costs 25 soles and is issued exclusively in digital format.
  6. Certificates of study will indicate only the period of study, level, and the format in which the participant is enrolled.
  1. The email address coordinacionacademica@eltulipanperu.com is the official channel through which we send announcements, class schedules, payment reminders, and other important notifications. 3. El Tulipán is not responsible for emails that end up in the spam folder, such as placement tests, announcements, or other relevant information. It is the participant’s responsibility to periodically check that folder and ensure they receive our communications.
  1. All participants are expected to behave respectfully toward the instructor and their classmates. Disruptive or inappropriate behavior may result in expulsion from the course, with no right to a refund.
  2. Derogatory comments or complaints regarding a service are not permitted during virtual sessions. If a participant is dissatisfied with a service, they may submit their complaint, question, inquiry, or concern through the official student support channels, which are provided at the start of the course.
  3. Interruptions of other participants while they are speaking are not permitted; each participant’s speaking time must be respected.
  4. Participants are not permitted to interrupt the instructor while they are explaining the lesson content or answering a participant’s question. To ensure that sessions run smoothly, it is important to wait until the instructor has finished speaking before asking questions or making comments.
  5. If we receive comments or complaints through official channels, El Tulipán will conduct the necessary investigations to provide an appropriate and timely resolution.

These terms and conditions constitute an agreement between EL TULIPÁN and the participants of the Dutch A2 Course. By registering, participants agree to comply with all established rules.
